Whether new in the saddle, a cycling enthusiast or a triathlete in training, we have a route for you! The ride begins in Cardston, Alberta, which is known for its spectacular view of the Rocky Mountains, particularly Chief Mountain. The longer distances will start by heading south towards the Carway border crossing. Roughly 10 km later, the 140 cyclists will detour towards Police Lake Provincial Park. Both the 100 and 140km cyclists will end up near the Carway border crossing, where they will turn around and return to Cardston before the final 50 km that takes them to Mountain View and back. The 50km route will go to Mountain View, Alberta. All roads are paved, and the highways have a nice large shoulder!
Camping Option
Need somewhere to stay?
We have tent and trailer sites available for Friday July 26th across the street from our staging area! Tents will be positioned on a grassy, flat area, while trailers will be on a flat gravel lot. There will be no water/power/sewer hook ups, but we will provide porte-potties and there are flush toilets a football field away.
To reserve your spot, simply e-transfer $15 for a tent site or $20 for a trailer site to fees@bikec4.com with the registrant's name in the memo. (ie: Camping for John Doe)

Rules
Race Rules
The roads are NOT closed to traffic! Ride to the right of the white line (on the shoulder) or risk disqualification. Note: this WILL be enforced, as it is a safety hazard. You may ride in the traffic lane briefly if you are passing or the shoulder is unsafe. Riders must pass using the 'on your left' rule.
Riders must be aware of and yield to highway traffic AT ALL TIMES. Some intersections will be controlled by personnel.
Riders must wear a helmet at all times.
No littering on Course. Garbages will be provided at aid stations. Offenders will be disqualified; this includes food wrappers dropped intentionally or unintentionally.
Riders must pass through all mandatory checkpoints for their race distance. Not passing through a checkpoint will result in a DNF.
Riders may use any standard bicycle that has two wheels and no motor. Riders wishing to ride a recumbent bike must specify on the registration form. All bicycles must have working brakes. Bicycles must be propelled solely by the rider's legs (e-bikes have their own category) and have 3 points of support; Saddle, pedals and handelbars. Standard road/gravel bikes, TT bikes and Mountain/trail bikes are allowed. To provide fairness, those riding a recumbent bike cannot win KOM / QOM prizes.
All bikes must be equipped with a red tail light (may be flashing or constant). A flashing head lamp (on handlebars) is recommended.
Absolutely NO passing on bridges or areas without a shoulder. Majority of the route has a very wide shoulder.
Event Crew will do a sweep at 4:00, picking up lagging riders. Riders not in before our crew picks them up will receive a DNF.
Cyclists under 16 years of age must be accompanied by an adult (21 years or older) at all times.
E-bikes are permitted in the "50 km - E-bike" or "25 km - E-Bike" category ONLY.
Want the lowest price, but unsure which distance you want? You are welcome to register for the shorter distance, and if you choose to up your distance, simply let us know and send us an e-transfer for the price difference based on the time you registered! Easy as that! We will offer the change of distance with no service fees until June 30th, 2024. Changes made after June 30th, 2024 are subject to a $10 service fee. No refunds will be given for dropping distances.
Refund Policy / Change of Distance Policy
ActiveWorks.com offers insurance for your registration as an optional add-on. Because of this, no refunds may be given. If you are concerned about the possibility of not being able to ride, be sure to purchase the insurance when you register.
A transfer of registration or deferal to 2025 may occur at the discretion of event organizers up until June 30, 2024.
Please email transfer@bikec4.com with your request. Additional information will be requested by C4 regarding the transfer.
A change of distance request will be completed at no charge to you up until June 30th, 2024. After this date, there will be a $10 administrative fee.
If you wish to change to a longer distance, you will be asked to pay the difference you would have paid at the date of registration.
No refunds will be given when switching to a shorter distance.
Our Purpose:
C4 (Cardston Community Cycling Club) began with a mission to get our community members active, through cycling! We have a particular interest in youth - teaching them safety, providing them something to DO, and keeping them active, One of our main goals is to build a mountain bike skills park in town. Unfortunately, this comes with a significant price tag. This is where the C4 Gran Fondo comes in!
We love cycling, and we know you do too! This event brings a cycling event to Southern Alberta, while helping us reach our goal of building a bike skills park for our youth!
100% of the proceeds from the C4 Gran Fondo will go towards building the skills park. Your registration will provide kids with endless fun! Our race directors / organizers are operating on volunteer basis.
